Britney Spears was forced to issue a statement to her fans after a rumor emerged that she was being held at a mental health facility against her will.

Spears said on Instagram that her family had received death threats after the hashtag #FreeBritney trended based on rumors that she was being held at the facility at the behest of her father, Jamie Spears.

It was reported earlier this month that Spears, 37, checked into a facility after her father’s health declined.

“All is well,” she said in the clip, adding that her “family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately.”

Spears added that, “I just need time to deal” with the issues.

“There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said,” Spears wrote on April 23.

“My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment,” she added. She did not directly address the rumors that she is being held against her will.

Spears noted the existence of “fake emails” that were created by former manager Sam Lutfi years ago. “I did not write them. He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address,” she also said.

“You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you,” the singer also stated.

On April 23, her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, also made a comment via social media.

“[Ten] years ago, who was there?? I have been here long before anyone else, and I’ll be here long after,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I love my sister with everything I have. So, anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don’t understand,” she continued.

She said: “Do not come for me or the ones I love anymore. You can move the ‘blank’ outta here with all that, just like this other lady who was running her mouth.”

Meanwhile, photos over the weekend appeared to show the singer with her boyfriend at a hotel. They were accompanied by reports that she was allowed a one-day trip away from the facility for Easter.
