Mix tapes were history; that was until the Canadians brought them back. Canadian-based Milktape Mixtape Co. has come out with a simple product that brings back the fun of gifting a personalized mix tape.

Milktape looks exactly like an original cassette tape. Each cassette unit has a plastic case and cover like a traditional audio cassette with the only difference being that you flip out the USB key inside the cassette before inserting it into the computer and enjoying the songs.

Circumventing the time taken to prepare a traditional cassette mix tape, users can now compile songs by simple drag and drop. For further personalizing, the stickers on both sides of the cassette and the blank white cover give you space to write the list of tracks and your message or greetings.

Milktape, priced at $15, comes with 128 MB storage and allows you to store at least 15 songs.

Makerbot Mixtape, which is also very similar to Milktape, carries an MP3 player instead of a USB drive. You can plug your headphones directly into the Makerbot version.
