Officials closed down the southbound Interstate 75 route following a “major” bridge collapse of an overpass.
Cincinnati.com reported that the bridge collapse was reported at around 10:30 p.m. ET.
At least one tractor trailer was damaged. At least one person was killed and another was injured.
Police told WCPO-TV that the bridge collapse was related to the construction of a roadway. It was located near Hopple Street, the station reported
Per the station:
Emergency crews said southbound I-75 in the area will be “closed indefinitely” during the cleanup and investigation. EB I-74 at Beekman Street is also shut down due to the collapse.
Cincinnati police said the collapse was related to construction on the roadway. There is no word on an official cause.
