Just a few hours after getting married, a bride was arrested for pulling a gun on the groom. The woman continued her honeymoon in police custody.
The 25-year-old Tennessee woman and her husband refused to cooperate once police showed up at the Clarion Inn, but witnesses helped police. They recovered a bullet shell casing and a gun at the scene.
“Responding officers let the husband know the honeymoon was over and his new wife was going to jail,” said Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department, in an interview with NewsChannel 5.
The couple was drinking and arguing outside the motel when Kate Elizabeth Prichard shocked everyone by pulling out a gun, pointing it at her new husband’s head and pulling the trigger. No bullets were loaded. She then loaded a bullet and fired a shot into the air, according to witness statements.
Both husband and wife tried to make nothing of the incident when police arrived. “Both were very uncooperative with authorities. It was actually a witness who pointed us in the right direction,” said Sgt. Evans.
Police said Prichard tried to dispose of the weapon in the bathroom. After her arrest she posted a $15,000 bond. The case will go before a grand jury, according to police. She was charged with aggravated domestic assault, and could face further charges.
