Viennese and Douglas were engaged in February of 2017 and planned to have the wedding in April of 2018. However, just three days after her engagement she received some terrible news. Her father, Preston, had been diagnosed with leukemia.

“We both dreamed of him walking me down the aisle to my groom,” Viennese said. But after some intense treatment the doctors still told them her father’s prognosis wasn’t good. There was a chance he didn’t have much time left.

Viennese feared her father wouldn’t be around to walk her down the aisle as she’d dreamed, so she and Douglas decided to move their wedding. Instead of the big wedding they’d planned for April of 2018, they moved it six months earlier and surprised Preston by holding the wedding at his hospital.

On the big day all the nurses pitched in to help the wedding happen, and they all took Preston completely by surprise. “I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in here. You set me up. I’m 64 and I might make another 64.” Preston was so proud he had trouble holding back his tears. Teary-eyed he told the nurses, “this is my daughter.”

Though most brides dream of a huge wedding, Viennese couldn’t have been happier. “This has been the best day of my life!” After the wedding she told her father how much she loved him and that she would be there with him for every step of his treatment. “You made me believe in the impossible [and] to have faith in God no matter what my eyes see.”

The couple now have a beautiful baby daughter and are enjoying family life!
