Brandon Machetto, 18, has been arrested after a neighbor says they saw him dragging something to his grandmother’s minivan on Monday morning.

Hours after that, Machetto was in custody, accused of killing his grandmother, Silvia Rosalie Schmitt.

Her body was found in the gold Honda Odyssey, and there was blood and signs of a struggle in her house in Paradise Lakes in Lutz, Florida, reported the Tampa Bay Times.

Machetto was previously charged with domestic violence against Schmitt but she later dropped the charge.

Deputies described the teen as expressionless and stoic.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco described what the neighbor saw, reported My News 13.

“What he saw was Brandon kind of looking around the neighborhood as if he was up to something,” Nocco said. “At that time, the neighbor keeps watching Brandon. Brandon then takes a body that’s wrapped up – the neighbor can see feet – he takes (the body) into his minivan and he drives off.”

A deputy spotted Machetto later driving on State Road 54 and tried to pull the teen over.

Machetto drove back to his grandmother’s house.

“Our detectives were there, and we were able to do a takedown on him and put him in custody,” Nocco said. “Looking in the back seat, we unfortunately found the body of Sylvia.”
