A New Jersey boy is doing his best to help all the animals who were abandoned in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria struck last September.

A video shared to Facebook on March 12 by Ana Rosado shows her son Jayden asking people to donate different types of pet food for the animals who need it.

“When I went to Puerto Rico I saw a lot of abandoned animals, and that made me really sad. So I wanted to give them food,” he says.

As the boy shows off the provisions he had already gathered, he commentates, “We got cat food, we got dog food, and we got rooster food. Because we can’t forget about our animals.”

Jayden later shows other supplies the family had gathered for the Puerto Rican people, including water, toiletries, and canned goods.

According to a Facebook post by his mother, a family friend is heading to Puerto Rico in April to bring over supplies, and she and Jayden are trying their hardest to gather up as much as they can for both humans and pets.

A version of the video had over 21,000 views at the time of writing.
