Bowe Bergdahl, a missing US soldier is seen in a new video obtained by the U.S. military, it was reported.

NBC and CNN both reported that the military has obtained a new video made by those holding Bergdahl, who was kidnapped in 2009.

A senior defense official said that the video came to light several days ago, but there were no other details. Other officials confirmed the video, but it’s not clear when the video was recorded.

Bergdahl is believed to have been kidnapped by the Haqqani network, which is affiliated with the Taliban.

He was serving in Afghanistan when he went missing on June 30, 2009, near the border with Pakistan.

The Taliban have said they would free him in exchange for several of their most senior operatives who are being detained at the U.S. detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The officials were not authorized to publicly discuss the matter by name and spoke on condition of anonymity.
