Bottle hits singer: A man was charged on May 19 for hitting Frederick “Toots” Hibbert during a concert in Virginia.

Hibbert leads the band Toots and the Maytals.

William Lewis, 19, was charged with aggravated assault, along with public intoxication, police said, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Lewis is thought to have grabbed a vodka bottle from one of the vending stands and later hurled it at Hibbert.

Hopeton Hibbert, Hibbert’s son, told WTVR-TV that “Toots” was released from the hospital later in the day and was in transit to New York. The older Hibbert had to get 8 to 10 stitches.
