11 people are dead and another at least 35 are injured after Typhoon Haiyan hit Bogo City in Cebu Province.
The province government updated the death toll on Sunday morning.
Houses are damaged in the city while power and communication are down, according to the Philippine Information agency. Many roads are blocked off and damaged, but around 50 percent of the water lines have been restored.
Also, the Gaisano Mall caved in while other buildings--such as the bus terminal/public market, two schools, and the San Vincent Ferrer Church--are also damaged.
Like many areas in the country, the full extent of the damage isn’t yet known.
Bogo City Mayor Celestino Martinez Jr. told the Philippine Sun-Star that the typhoon “destroyed everything we have here, from infrastructure to agriculture.”
“We didn’t expect it could do such damage,” Martinez added.
Cebeco authorities told the city government that it will take two to three months to restore power in the northern part of Bogo.
The typhoon ripped through the Philippines on Friday, leaving an estimated 10,000 dead or missing.
