Two police officers in Georgia are being credited with saving the life of a young child in Temple.
Officers James Hollowood and David Yates got there before paramedics, finding the boy in a pool. Hollowood teaches CPR, and he said that they got there just in time.
“Early basic CPR is what saves lives in those situations,” Hollowood said in a video. “The baby was unresponsive. We started CPR and we supplied a bag valve mask for me to start giving the baby breaths while officer Yates did chest compressions,” he added.
“I knew he was in the water and I knew I had to start ... kinda doing some thrusts on his abdomen to push the water out,” Yates added.
Paramedics took over and took the boy, who was not named, to a hospital via ambulance.
“All I wanted to hear was he started breathing and they got a heartbeat. I saw [a] thumbs up,” Yates said in the report.
The family said that the boy is recovering, according to the report.
“I don’t consider myself a hero I just consider myself... at the right time... at the right place,” Yates noted.
“Honestly It’s in all in a days work. the primary reason is to really is to help people things like today,” Hollowood recalled.
