A police body camera video shows Denver Bike Patrol Officer Sean Drew use a tourniquet to fellow Officer Travis Lloyd after he was shot in the leg.

The Denver Attorney’s Office released the video footage from June, showing the officers involved in a gun battle with a suspect who robbed a 7-Eleven, KDVR reported.

An employee went out to flag down two officers on June 13 after Carnell Nelson allegedly robbed the store on Colfax Avenue near the state Capitol.

Nelson shot at the officers first as an officer pursued him. He shot officer Travis Lloyd in the leg, KDVR reported.

Nelson fired five shots in all, also hitting a bystander in the foot, according to the report.

Lloyd fired 13 times, hitting Nelson in the chest. The DA’s office said that Lloyd shot at Nelson to defend himself and other people on the street.

Nelson was killed in the shooting, reports said.

Lloyd won’t face charges in the incident.

“As they run toward him, the suspect turns and fires his gun,” a police spokeswoman, Barb Archer, said in June after the shooting, CBS Denver reported.
District Attorney Beth McCann told Patch.com that the officer’s use of deadly force was “legally justified,” and there was reason to believe Nelson was a danger to himself and others, she said.
