SOMERVILLE, Mass.—A body pulled from the Mystic River has been identified as a suspect charged in the killing of a Malden woman last month.

Police on Wednesday said the body was that of 35-year-old Kenneth Manning, of Malden.

Manning had been charged with murder in the death of 36-year-old Colleen Russell.

Russell was found dead in her apartment on Feb. 15 after police responded to a well-being check. The medical examiner determined that she died of “sharp force injuries.”

A passer-by found Manning’s body Tuesday evening in the river in Somerville. Authorities believe the body had been in the water for an extended period of time.

The death is not considered suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing.
