The body of Beau Solomon, a missing U.S. visiting student in Italy, was found in the Tiber River in Rome, according to statement from his university on July 4.

“John Cabot University is deeply saddened to announce that the body of Beau Solomon, the missing American visiting student, has been found in the Tiber River. We express our most heartfelt condolences to the Solomon family and to all those who loved Beau,” the statement from John Cabot University read in full.

Solomon, 19, went missing three days ago—just hours after he arrived in Italy’s capital city. Solomon was a visiting student from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, arriving to study at John Cabot University.

He was reported missing the following morning by his roommate, according to an earlier news release from John Cabot University, a small liberal arts college.

“The University was alerted by his roommate who reported that he had lost contact with Beau around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday night while together at a pub in Rome, and was worried when he did not see Beau at orientation that morning,” the release stated.

The college then alerted Italian authorities and told the American Embassy and Solomon’s home school, which then notified the family.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s dean of students, Lori Berquam, said the school had been working with Italian and American authorities to locate Solomon. “We ask all Badgers to keep Beau and his family in their thoughts and prayers,” Berquam said in a statement Sunday.
