A 28-year-old California man who went missing several days ago has been found dead.

Kyle Myrick of San Jose was found in Santa Cruz County late Thursday.

A tip led police officers to the Jameson Creek Road area, and a search turned up the body, reported KSBW.

Myrick went missing on Jan. 22.

A co-worker at GP Sports, 39-year-old Steve Hlebo, was charged with Myrick’s murder, reported NBC.

Authorities found a severed ear and a “large amount of fresh blood” in a storage unit where Hlebo’s car had been.

The pair had gotten into a fistfight earlier in the day before Myrick went missing, according to a police report.

Myrick was sent to help Hlebo assemble two all-terrain vehicles behind their shop around 1 p.m.—but when an employee went out to check on them about an hour later, the gate to the lot was locked and Myrick was nowhere to be found.

The 39-year-old Hlebo said he wasn’t sure where Myrick had gone, according to KRON4.

But a family member later told police Hlebo had admitted to murdering Myrick.
