Legendary Indiana Hoosiers head coach Bobby Knight will join presidential candidate Donald Trump on the campaign trail, according to a report on politico.com.
Knight will reportedly join Trump on Wednesday at his rally. “Tough, strong, smart. I would like to get that for Indiana, I’ll tell you what. To me, that would be a great endorsement,” Trump said.

Knight was a very successful—and hot-headed—coach in his day. The now-retired Knight coached the Hoosiers from 1971–2000, winning 11 Big Ten titles, advancing to five Final Fours, and winning three national championships (’76, ’81, and ’87). His 1975–76 squad, which went 32–0 is the last team to make it through an entire season without losing.
After being let go by the Hoosiers, Knight went to Texas Tech and led the Red Raiders to four NCAA Tournament appearances in six and a half seasons before retiring with a then-NCAA record 899 wins.
As successful as his teams were on the court, Knight was best known for his fierce temper. Maybe his most memorable outburst was when he threw a chair all the way across the court in apparent objection to a series of calls in a game against Purdue in February of 1985. He was then promptly ejected from the game.
