A recent Forum Research poll found that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has gained in popularity since his election as mayor last fall. Compared to the 47 percent who favoured Ford in the October, the poll shows that 60 percent of Toronto residents agree with his role as a Mayor. Those aged 55 and over were most supportive with 67 percent giving Ford positive marks while support among those aged between 18 and 34 reached only 49 percent. The poll was also split between Toronto neighborhoods with Scarborough showing the highest support at 71 percent and Toronto East York the lowest at 46 percent.

The poll also asked a number of questions related to issues in the City of Toronto including how residents felt about declaring the TTC an essential service and banning strikes and lockouts with 72 percent in approval. A follow up question about using private financing to accelerate the constructing of the Sheppard Line got approval from six in ten residents in the Scarborough and North York areas.
