The federal government filed a tax lien against Mary J. Blige, who owes around $3.4 million.
TMZ reported that Blige owes millions for failing to pay income taxes in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
She also reportedly failed to pay $900,000 in taxes in New Jersey. According to the New York Daily News, Blige owns a home in Saddle River, located in the state.
The IRS filed the lien against Blige in Bergen County, court documents say. She also received a lien in March in Westchester. Blige also owns two homes in those two areas, according to the Daily News.
Last May, the New York Post reported that a charity set up by Blige intended to empower women did not file tax its returns.
“The problem is that I didn’t have the right people in the right places doing the right things,” Blige said last year.
