NEW YORK—Bill de Blasio will become the next mayor of New York City, according to exit poll projections by NY1, a local New York City television station.
As voters left polls, some 74 percent said that they voted for de Blasio, a Democrat, while only 23 percent voted for Joe Lhota, a Republican.
De Blasio lead Lhota by more than 40 points in all general election polls prior to the Tuesday vote.
