NEW YORK—The long planned but oft delayed bike share system is more and more becoming a reality. About a week after docking stations began appearing on streets across the city, a page has appeared on the CitiBike website where New Yorkers can sign up to be one of the first members of the system.

Pricing for the system:

$95 per year
-Riders under 45 minutes: free
-Rides over 45 minutes: depends

$25 per week
-Rides under 30 minutes: free
-Rides over 30 minutes: depends

$10 a day
-Rides under 30 minutes: free
-Rides over 30 minutes: depends

The system will start with about 6,000 bikes at 300 stations, in Manhattan below Central Park and in northwest Brooklyn. The city’s Department of Transportation hopes to eventually expand the program to include 600 stations and 10,000 bikes.
