The latest Apple rumor indicates that the tech giant is planning to release a bigger version of the iPhone and iPad in 2014. Reports from Digitimes state that the tablet will be manufactured by Quanta Computer. Digitimes cites sources from “the upstream supply chain.”

The tablet is to be launched in October 2014, with Apple testing both 12.9 inch and 13.3 inch panels with more preference to the former, the reports state.

The new iPad is said to have a faster processor than the current iPad Air. The tablet is also being tested with 2K and 4K displays and an increase in resolution is sure to be welcomed, given the larger screen size.

Rumors also indicate that the new iPad will feature a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. It could be considered an alternative to the 11-inch MacBook Air.

The educational market of North America is Apple’s primary target for the product.

With competitors like Samsung already gearing up with the Galaxy Note Pro, it is no surprise that Apple is planning to come up with better products to try and pick up its rather dwindling dominance.

The new iPhone expected in 2014 is also said to feature a bigger screen size, but not more than 5.0 inches as Apple is still sticking with its one-hand usage principle.
