A viral Facebook post claiming to have video footage of “big spiders coming” out of a man’s leg is nothing more than a scam.

The post says, “{OPPs Time} Big Spiders coming out of the guys leg..! Dare to watch for more than ten seconds.”

It has a picture of a man sitting down with a play button over it.

However, when users click on the post, they’re taken to another website that asks them to first share the post before going any further--a telltale sign of a scam.

After that, the website just offers bogus surveys that never actually promise anything. The surveys--which also promise free iPhones or Samsung Galaxy S5s--are how the scammers behind the post make their money.

There’s no actual video of spiders coming out of a man’s leg.

Facebook a few months ago said it would attempt to crack down on spam. “Some stories in News Feed use inaccurate language or formatting to try and trick people into clicking through to a website that contains only ads or a combination of frequently circulated content and ads. For instance, often these stories claim to link to a photo album but instead take the viewer to a website with just ads,” the company said in April.
