Big Smo’s season 1 finale is on Wednesday night and fans are wondering whether the A&E show will be back for another season.

The network hasn’t made an announcement yet, and based on ratings the decision could go either way.

Big Smo is in a late timeslot at 10:30 p.m. EDT, and faces competition from a number of shows, but mostly from reruns of shows such as American Dad, The Big Bang Theory, and South Park.

The show started off strong on June 19 with 1.9 million viewers, including 0.8 million in the coveted 18-49 age bracket (Live + SD). It maintained those ratings for three more weeks, hitting 1.9 million and 0.7 million on July 10.

The episodes since then have not done well--the very next week dropped to 1.3 million and 0.5 million, and it’s stayed around 1.4 million and 0.5 million since then--but could still be good enough for another season.

Duck Dynasty, another show built around a family, took a couple seasons to reach its full potential, increasing its ratings with each one.

A&E will likely give Big Smo another shot and see if the ratings increase for season 2.

Either way, the network should make an announcement soon.
