Big Pun, the Bronx-born rapper who died in 2000, was remembered by a number of people on Twitter on Friday.

Pun--also known as the Big Punisher--was born Christopher Lee Rios in The Bronx. He died of a fatal heart attack at the age of 28 on Feb. 7, 2000.

He’s been ranked as one of the top MCs in several publications including MTV, The Source, and About.com. His rapid-fire, multi-syllabic rhyming captivated listeners.

But some believe that he may have been the greatest rapper of all time.

Two of his albums, “Capital Punishment” and “Yeeeah Baby,” went platinum.

On Twitter, his name trended in some areas.

“R.I.P The Realist Of NYC Legend BIG PUN...Always A Legend!!!!!” wrote one

Another added, “R.I.P to the one of the #GOAT Big Pun.”

“R.I.P. to one of the greatest to ever do it. BIG PUN,” wrote another.
