It’s a given that even the best teams lose every now and then, but it’s doubly interesting when three of the most dynamic teams in the East all lose on the same night.

The Boston Celtics lost to the Indiana Pacers (100-107), the Chicago Bulls to the Philadelphia 76ers (97-85), the San Antonio Spurs to the Portland Trailblazers (100-92).

Say what! Yes, Chicago and Boston are first and second in the East, respectively, and San Antonio first in the West. Ah, well, you can trust that they will pick it back up come playoffs. As for now, here are the quick facts for each:

Boston’s Pierce, Rondo, and “Big Baby” combined for a total of 65 points. I’m not sure how effective Perkins’ replacement, Nenad Krstic, has been, but Doc Rivers better figure out how to get the big man incorporated into the offense, and fast. Indiana responded with a combined 61 points from Hibbert, Granger, and Collison. Indiana’s difference was its bench, with a nice contribution of 41 points.

Chicago’s Rose gave an unsurprising 31 points, with Deng, Boozer and Noah pitching in 35 points. However, Philadelphia out-hustled them, with 19 points from Iguodala, and a combined 47 points from Brand, Hawes, Meeks, and Holiday. Philadelphia also got big help from the bench, with 21 points from Young.

As for the Spurs, yes, their big three of Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili are out. This is clearly hurting the team, as they’ve lost four straight. Hopefully they will be better in the playoffs and can hold on the home-court advantage. Hill put in a solid 27 points, and Splitter gave 14. Portland’s Miller showed some flair with 26 points, while Wallace and Matthew combined for 33 points.
