Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) was evacuated on Sunday over a bomb threat, but officials gave an “all clear” after several hours.

People were told that there’s a suspicious package at baggage claim and the entire airport and even the tower has been evacuated.

The threat was received around 4 p.m.

One passenger said that a “non airline-specific note” was found, according to an airline employee. The airport later said in a Facebook post that it was responding to a “threat.”

All inbound flights were being diverted and all departing flights are delayed for an unknown amount of time, prompting some people to leave the airport in their vehicles.

But at about 6:10 p.m. CDT, officials gave an “all clear,” and TSA agents began re-entering the building. The public is now being let back in.
