Beyonce is at it again—causing an uproar with new surprising ventures.
First, it was the surprise release of her new song, “Formation” and now it’s her new activewear line, Ivy Park.
Ivy Park is “merging fashion-led design with technical innovation” and “creating a new kind of performance wear: modern essentials for both on and off the field,” according to the company’s website.
Beyonce showed familiarity with technical innovation when she unexpectedly released her self-titled album in 2013.
This new business venture is a personal one for the “Partition” singer. In a promotional video, Beyonce recalls the significance that Parkwood Park, her neighborhood park, has played in her life. As said in the video, Beyonce looks to the park for strength in conquering her fears.
“When I have to conquer those things I still go back to that park,” said the mother of one. “Before I hit the stage, I go back to that park. When it was time for me to give birth, I went back to that park.”
The activewear line is scheduled for release on April 14 and will be available through Topshop, Net-A-Porter, and Nordstrom.
Ivy Park is a collaboration with Topshop and the company is excited to have the feminist on board.
“Ivy Park empowers women through sport—no matter what your sporting ability or body shape. The collection centres on a core of sports staples: leggings in three rises, crop tops, drop arm tees, sweatshirts and technical jackets. All products can be mixed to create your personal sportswear uniform,” states the Topshop website.
