Auburn University and the University of Oregon, the respective number-one and number-two ranked schools, will play each other in the national championship game for college football teams.
Auburn (13-0) and Oregon (12-0) are slated to play on Jan. 10 in Glendale, Arizona for the college football title.
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, has accounted for 50 touchdowns during this season.
“Obviously, his highlights are all over the place,” Oregon linebacker Casey Matthews told the Los Angeles Times.
Texas Christian University (12–0) nabbed the number three ranking and the University of Wisconsin (11-1) was ranked fifth. The two schools will meet each other on New Year’s Day at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
For the Fiesta Bowl, which also plays on New Year’s, seventh-ranked University of Oklahoma (10-2) will face the University of Connecticut (8-4).
Fourth-ranked Stanford University (11-1) will play thirteenth-ranked Virginia Tech (11-2) in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 3. Sixth-ranked Ohio State (11-1) will play the eighth-ranked University of Arkansas (10-2) in the Sugar Bowl.
