Barbara Walters, creator, producer and co-host of one of the US favorite daytime shows The View, announced her return date to the show after undergoing heart valve surgery. Executive producer Bill Geddie told the fans that she will appear briefly on the show via video on Monday, July 12. According to the official website of The View, a tweeter party (a live online chat) will be held at the same time.

Back on May 10, the 80-year-old entertainer tweeted that she was going to “have surgery this week on one heart valve,” and promised her fans that she “will be just fine [and] send u love.” It is unclear when Walters will return to the show full-time.

It appears that Barbara Walters was well prepared for the surgery. “I have known of this condition for a while now and my doctors and I have decided that this is the best time to do the surgery, since the summer is coming up, I can take a nice vacation,” said the show host to her worried audience before taking the leave.

Presented currently by Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walter herself, The View has brought numerous Daytime Emmy awards and nominations to the entertainer since 1997. Known for its unique style of having a panel of female hosts, the talk show has attracted a great number high-profile celebrities in the past decade.
