‘Bachelorette’ alcoholism: Former “The Bachelorette” star Meredith Phillips revealed this week that she struggles with alcoholism.
While she was on the ABC show in 2004, Phillips said she battled with drinking, according to a recent interview with People magazine.
Phillips said she was “drunk every night” and at her worst, she would drink 20 bottles of wine per week.
“For years I'd wake up every day feeling like I was hit by a truck,” she told the magazine. “But I realized I was going to kill myself. ... There wasn’t another path for me other than to stop. ... I’m finally starting to live my life again.”
Phillips, a former model, said she started drinking heavily while at the Oregon State University
Now, she is around 150 days sober and is trying hard not to relapse.
“I need to get back in the gym. I should really be taking better care of myself,” she added. “But I really can only focus on one thing at a time right now.”
