A 1-month-old baby boy was found on the side of a highway in Oklahoma on Saturday, Sept. 23, with $5,500 in cash, a birth certificate, and social security card with him in his car seat.

A church group on their way back from amusement park Frontier City saw the child on the side of Interstate 80 and pulled over. The driver of the van told police that initially he thought it was doll, but then he saw its legs moving, KFOR Channel 4 news reported.

He didn’t see a note or any food or water around the baby, just the boy and the car seat.

The temperature was over 90 degrees at the time, but the baby wasn’t sweating or sunburned, leading officials to conclude he wasn’t out in the sun for more than 30 minutes.

The church group’s pastor said this was a case of divine intervention.

“God stepped in,” Ken Angel of Abba’s House Worship Center in Ada told the Associated Press.

The infant was rushed to the hospital for a medical evaluation where staff told police he seemed to be healthy and well cared for.

The mother, who police tracked down a short time later through relatives, was also taken to the hospital for evaluation, the Associated Press reports.

The names of the mother and child have not yet been released.

According to a police report, the baby has been placed in DHS custody.
