The Avengers 3 movie is already in some fans’ minds, and some new information has recently come out about the film.
Marvel Studios and Disney laid claim to the May 2018 weekend previously occupied by Amazing Spider-Man 4.
“Disney isn’t saying what movie it will open that weekend, although the timing would be right for Avengers 3 (one source confirmed it will be a big title),” reported The Hollywood Reporter.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on the first weekend in May in summer 2015, three years after The Avengers debuted on the same weekend in 2012.”
The movie could have a new director, according to Badass Digest.
I am pretty sure that Joss Whedon won’t direct The Avengers 3. I’ve heard rumblings from behind-the-scenes that he’s pretty much finished with the Marvel stuff, plus doing two enormous movies like that in a limited time span is exhausting. On top of that, no director has ever worked with Marvel more than twice, and the only person who has done that was Jon Favreau, the first guy on board,” it said.
The blog suggested that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn could be tabbed for the role, as he is under contract for another movie.
“I think once you see Guardians of the Galaxy you’ll be just as excited for Gunn to take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as I am. I also think that Marvel is going to want to stick with a known quantity to replace Whedon – someone from in-house who understands how they work,” blogger Devin Faraci said.
There are also rumors that there will be some serious crossovers in Avengers 3, including with Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider Man. X-Men crossover rumors have been shot down.
Thanos will be the main bad guy in the film, per Whedon. The Vision is supposed to return while Ant-Man could join with the Avengers. Many of the Avengers are rumored to return, including Black Widow and Captain America.
