The Hulk will have a bigger role in Avengers 2, otherwise known as Age of Ultron.

Mark Ruffalo plays the character.

“[My role’s] even bigger than last time, and it’s more complex and it has more layers and a bit more arc,” he told Totalfilm.

Part of The Hulk character--when he gets big after getting angry--is accomplished through special effects.

“I’m really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff… now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers,” Ruffalo said.

Ruffalo was given some help for the role by expert Andy Serkis, who is famous for his acting through motion capture, first as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films (six now), and later as Captain Haddock and Sir Francis Haddock in The Adventures of Tintin and Caesar in Rise of the Planet of The Apes.

“Well, I have been working with the great @andyserkis on the big green boy,” Ruffalo said via Twitter.

The Hulk “is going to be even better than in [Avengers] 1,” he said.

Ruffalo didn’t divulge the exact details but seemed excited about the help.

Serkis was just announced as one of the primary cast members for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, though his role in that movie isn’t clear yet.

Avengers 2 is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
