Austin Mahone and Camila Cabello broke up because she told the public about their relationship but he wanted to keep it low key, according to a new report.

Cabello, 17, confirmed the relationship on Watch What Happens Live on November 3.

But apparently that proclamation was part of the reason behind the split that happened soon after.

“There was some trouble in the relationship brewing and as a last-ditch effort, Camilla made it official. That was one of the biggest stumbling blocks: She wanted to tell people and he wanted to keep it low key,” a source told Hollywood Life.

“When she revealed that they were dating, he accused her of using it to sell albums and she was hurt by that and they both decided to break up.”

Cabello’s group Fifth Harmony had been touring with Mahone,18,  but their tour is over now.

“Now that they aren’t touring together, it made it easier to make the split,” the source said.

“They aren’t bitter with each other and something might happen with them in the future but right now, they both are enjoying the clean break. They both decided that it was a long time coming.”

However, Mahone came forward to slam the report.

“That’s the most ridiculous reason I’ve ever heard...Nothing like that even happened at all. Idk what source u guys talking 2,” he said via Twitter.

Cabello seemingly addressed it as well, saying, “Guys guys. nobody is the bad guy here and nobody deserves any hate. lots of love...goodnight.”

“With that said, im taking a little break from twitter for a couple days,” she added. “i love you all so much.”

Cabello seems to be taking it well, telling Kiss radio that “things happen.”

Mahone spoke of the relationship for an interview in the upcoming Teen Vogue issue.

“She’s an amazing girl, and we have the best time together,” he said. “I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but we became really good friends when we were on tour.”
