A rumor started on Tuesday about a movie possibly happening that would portray Aunt May, who helps raise Spider-Man, at a younger age, but was later called false.

The rumor came from Latino Review, which said that Sony is pursuing such a movie.

“A movie about Aunt May as a youth, before she was shouldered with the responsibility of raising Peter Parker,” it said.

“The target mood is some sort of espionage story in the vein of AMC’s Mad Men, which sounds like a way of saying ‘classier Agent Carter’ without name-dropping Marvel’s upcoming series.”

“I was told by the Latino Review editorial brain-trust that this is completely true,” the author said.

But Gossip Cop came in to try to debunk the Latino Review story.

“Here’s a lesson: Don’t trust the Latino Review editorial brain-trust. Because this story is the opposite of ‘completely true’” the blog said.

“A studio source tells Gossip Cop there’s ‘no validity whatsoever’ to the story about an Aunt May movie. We’re told it’s a ’silly rumor' and nothing more.”

For now, it’s one side against another with no clear idea of which one is right.
