CHIAYI, Taiwan—Many audience members who attended Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s final Chiayi performance on the evening of April 4 were from mainland China, who had come to Taiwan exclusively to experience the Shen Yun phenomena spreading around the world.

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts showcases classical Chinese dance and music, and seeks to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely-inspired traditional culture.

Among the audience were Mr. Lu (pseudonym) and his wife. Mrs. Lu said, “I was especially impressed with the last piece Before Disaster, The Divine Is Rescuing. It was indeed very sacred. Shen Yun presents the traditional beauty. As the moral standard in mainland China is declining due to the dying out of the traditional culture, Shen Yun is definitely China’s hope.“ Mr. Lu added, ”Shen Yun ushered us into the realm of the traditional culture.”

Mrs. Lu also mentioned, “The objective of our trip to Taiwan is mainly to bring our children to see Shen Yun. In mainland China, we often viewed the Shen Yun performance by playing its DVD; however, I felt it was not enough. So, we took advantage of the sightseeing trip to Taiwan to see the Shen Yun performance here. Our children were also touched and burst into tears during the performance.”

She added, “Though we encountered many difficulties traveling to Taiwan this time, nevertheless, we have realized our wish. Perhaps we won’t be able to go overseas any more after returning to China, but we will never feel regretful about coming to watch Shen Yun. It was really worthwhile.”

She also noted, “Shen Yun is indeed amazing. After seeing the Shen Yun performance, I feel especially tranquil and peaceful.” Mr. Lu added, “From the very beginning of the Shen Yun program, we seemed to enter a divine world, and I was touched to tears instantly. It is by all means worthwhile, as it is indeed so wonderful.”

“All of us are looking forward to seeing Shen Yun perform in China someday. It is our sincere wish,” Mrs. Lu concluded.

Another Chinese person who came from Chongqing, China, to see Shen Yun was Mrs. Chen. She mentioned that she was told previously that seeing a Shen Yun performance is of benefit to one’s physical and spiritual wellbeing. Much to her surprise, after seeing the performance, she had an all-new feeling, and felt her whole body was very comfortable. And even her hypertension was gone, so she felt Shen Yun is really very good.

Mrs. Chen said that she was deeply moved by Shen Yun’s revival of the 5,000-year-old divinely-imparted Chinese culture, and that since the Chinese authorities are promoting atheism, Shen Yun’s promotion of the divinely-imparted culture would have a tremendous impact on the people of China. She stressed that compared to the situation in China, Taiwan has done a very good job in terms of preserving the divinely-imparted culture.

She noted that Shen Yun’s programs were very touching. They showcased the compassion of Gods and Buddhas. In particular, the dance The Choice has helped her understand why so many Falun Gong practitioners in China and other places around the world urge Chinese people to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Buddhas and Gods would give those who have quit the CCP and its related organizations the opportunity to have a bright future.
