TAIPEI, Taiwan—Tsai Chuen-horng, Minister of the Atomic Energy Council, together with his wife, were among the audience seeing the fourth performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company at the Taipei Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on March 22. “Shen Yun is very unique and extraordinary, as it synchronizes legends, dance and music!” Mr. Tsai marveled.
With a mission to revive the authentic Chinese culture, New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts presents the essence of the 5,000-year traditional Chinese culture and connotations of legends about “benevolence, righteousness, proprieties, wisdom, and trust,” using the medium of classical Chinese dance and a live orchestra that combines classical Western and traditional Chinese instruments.
After seeing “the best performance in the world,” Mr. Tsai said: “I appreciate music, dance, and anything that is beautiful, regardless of whether it is Western or Eastern.” As for the theme of the performance, reviving 5,000 years of civilization, he said that he would like to savor it carefully.
Mr. Tsai said he used to see various shows with his wife, including musicals and dancing performances, but this was the first time he had seen anything like Shen Yun’s digitally animated backdrops. “What is relatively special is the dynamic backdrops, which are synchronized with the performers. Very unique!”
