At Least 30 Injured As Floor Collapses in South Carolina Clubhouse Party

At least 30 people were injured in South Carolina when the floor of a Clemson apartment clubhouse collapsed during a party.

Clemson police said the incident occurred about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, during a private party at the Woodlands of Clemson neighborhood clubhouse, WHNS reported.

Screams can be heard in footage captured moments after the collapse. A person can be seen clutching a portion of the buckled floor that had not fully detached from the rest of the structure.

Police said it was the first floor of the building that buckled and fell into the basement.

Partygoers were dancing in unison, Woodlands Property Management President Tal Slann told CNN, when the floor suddenly gave way.

Emergency responders triaged the victims before transporting them to three area hospitals for treatment: Clemson University, Pickens County, and Med Shore, according to Fox Carolina.

Police said they didn’t know whether any of the injuries were life-threatening, WYFF reported.

According to reports, no one was trapped under the rubble.

The apartment complex is about three miles northeast of Clemson University.

The clubhouse building where the collapse occurred is a common area within the complex, and had been leased to an undisclosed group for the purpose of holding a private party, police said.

Slann said the clubhouse had been built in 2004, according to CNN.
