Recent reports say that Philadelphia Eagles castoff Nnamdi Asomugha might sign with either the San Francisco 49ers or the New Orleans Saints.

“Nnamdi Asomugha is still torn between #49ers and #Saints, I’m told. But New Orleans pushing really hard to get him,” tweeted NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.

The tweet comes just a few days before another report suggested that Asomugha and Green Bay Packers safety Charles Woodson would go to the 49ers. However, these reports have not yet been confirmed.

Regardless of where Asomugha, he is owed $4 million next season from the Eagles, according to CBS Sports. But in his seasons with the Eagles, Asomugha—a former All-Pro—did not fit into Philadelphia’s defensive system.

The Times-Picayune’s Larry Holder wrote several days ago that the Saints “are thought to remain high” on Asomugha’s list. “Yet the process remains in a bit of a holding pattern as the former All-Pro defender continues to weigh his options,” he added.

Last week, Saints coach Sean Payton and General Manager Mickey Loomis met with Asomugha, according to Holder, who said the three “hit it off” during he meeting.

“We’re always looking for good players to improve our team and we think Nnamdi would be a great fit for our defense and our team,” Loomis wrote.

The report, however, did not elaborate on how much the Saints might offer Asomugha.
