The Homeland season 4 premiere is set to air later this year on Showtime

But ahead of the new season, former CIA operative Valerie Plame says that though the show is “complelling TV” there are times when it makes her roll her eyes.

“It’s compelling TV — Claire Danes is of course fabulous,” she told attendees of a Television Critics Association. However, she added, “I think they have jumped the shark this season.”

The show follows CIA operative Danes through a series of missions and notably killed off Nicholas Brody, one of its main characters, in the season 3 finale.

Plame infamously left the CIA after her covert identity was compromised by information leaked to a newspaper columnist in 2003.

She dug into some of the unbelievable aspects of the show, sch as the fact that Danes is bipolar and no one notices. The biggest issue is the way the undercover agents use traceable cell phones.

“They always use their cell phones inside headquarters,” she said, reported The Wrap. “You realize your cell phone is really like a little transmission device? Okay, great. Little GPS inside there? That doesn’t happen.”

“You see all the things that make you roll your eyes, like come on,” she said. “But it has to be entertaining, and it certainly is entertaining.”
