Toddler mauled by 7 dogs: A Georgia toddler was mauled and killed by 7 dogs on Wednesday, it was reported.

Police in a Georgia town are investigating a dog attack that left a toddler dead, it was reported.

Monica Renee Laminack was attacked and mauled in Bryan County by her family’s seven pit bulls on Wednesday afternoon, reported the Savannah Morning News.

“When we got here and spoke to EMS, they told us that when they got here, she was already cold. There was nothing they could do,” Bryan County Deputy Sheriff James Beatty told the paper.

The girl’s grandmother spotted the attack after she woke up. She looked out the window and saw the dogs attacking the girl, prompting her and other family members to go outside to separate the dogs from the toddler, but it was too late.

Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith said all seven dogs were euthanized on Wednesday.

Beatty said the 12-year-old brother of the girl may have mistakenly left the girl outside with the pit bulls, WSAV reported. He said that the toddler might have gone out the doggy door.

On previous occasions, the girl apparently played with the dogs, but it is not clear why they attacked.

“All the dogs had access to the house, nine dogs in all,” Smith was quoted as saying. “She habitually played with dogs, all of them. But they drug her all over the yard. Something turned them on her. We don’t know what,” he added.

Bryan County Sheriff’s Detective Donnie Thomas told Reuters that the girl was going to turn 2 in June.
