C.C. Sabathia went eight strong innings, striking out 10 Twins, as the Yankees (90-65) topped Minnesota (65-91) 8–2 in the rubber match of the three-game set.

The Yankees used a six-run third inning on the power of five hits, three walks, and a wild pitch. Robinson Cano drove in the first two runs with the first of his two doubles on the day, giving him 43 on the season. He was one of four Yankees with with at least two hits as the Bronx Bombers totaled 11 on the day.

Sabathia (14-6) got the win after allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while throwing 118 pitches. The 10 strikeouts mark the second straight start he’s struck out at least that many and sixth time this season.

Up next for Joe Girardi’s club is a four-game set in Toronto, starting Thursday night.
