Snow falling in Washington, D.C. on Sunday has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory, but the weather hasn’t delayed the Washington Redskins vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
The advisory, which remains in effect until 7 a.m. Monday, projects one to two inches of snow and sleet to fall, followed by up to two-tenths of an inch of ice. The snow and sleet “will change to freezing rain and then to rain,” the service predicts.
Travel is likely more difficult than usual because of the weather and power outages are possible. The advisory means people should use caution while traveling, especially driving.
Areas near the capital have gotten more snow, such as Frederick in Maryland and Leesburg in Virginia, where up to six inches has fallen, reported AccuWeather.
The Monday morning commute will likely be impacted by the weather, causing wet roads and reduced visibility.
Also, rain and snow could return to D.C. as soon as Tuesday.
