A mountain lion has been spotted in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday night.
The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement & Community Relations put out a public safety alert via Twitter just before 11 p.m.
“Mountain lion spotted. 3600 block of Highwood Drive SE,” it said.
The street is near Fort Dupont Park.
A mountain lion was reportedly seen earlier in the day in the Fort Lincoln neighborhood in northeast D.C. near a Costco.
Two concerned residents called 911 and said that they had seen a mountain lion, reported CBS.
The latter sighting prompted the mayor’s office to put out the safety alert.
Police haven’t been able to corroborate the reports.
