WASHINGTON—White House economic advisers have challenged the traditional measures of wage growth, claiming that pay increases are actually higher than government estimates.

A report released by the President’s Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) shows that official wage statistics often miss real wage growth because they exaggerate inflation and fail to account for additional employment benefits, aging workers, and tax cuts.
