Vice President and spokesperson of the China Interim Government (CIG), Tang Boqiao, was assaulted on Monday night in Flushing, New York, a locale which has become a flashpoint for attacks against critics of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Tang, a resident of Flushing’s Chinatown, said he was jumped by a group of at least four men at the Hollywood Karaoke Center on College Point Boulevard. The first assailant, a Chinese man 45-50 years old, speaking with a northern Chinese accent, punched Tang in the eye. A second Chinese man of a similar age, said Tang, punched him in the nose and threw a beer bottle at him. Tang said he suspects that there were at least two other accomplices. The police arrived at the scene, but none of the suspects were apprehended.

Tang was taken to a hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries. On route, Tang said he had noticed a large cream-colored passenger vehicle following the ambulance all the way to the hospital. Tang called the police again who agreed to investigate the suspicious vehicle.

Tang was not robbed, nor did he provoke the attackers in any way. “I don’t know what they want to do,” said Tang referring to his attackers, adding that he felt his personal security is still at risk.

Tang is a vocal and high profile member of the CIG. The CIG, established on January 1, 2008, is composed of members from both inside and outside of China who have common goals of defending rights and disintegrating the current Chinese regime for its totalitarianism and oppression.

“Our transitional government has done many things recently, from expanding our organization to exposing the truth,” about several recent CCP human rights abuses, including the recent massacre of Uyghur Muslim in Xinjiang province, said CIG President Wu Fan.

Tang says, “This assault … is reminiscent of the 2008 assaults against Falun Gong practitioners also in Flushing.”

In May 2008, Falun Gong practitioners, who were volunteers at the Service Center for Quitting the CCP, were verbally and physically attacked by organized mobs as large as 600 people. The Consul General of the CCP in New York, Peng Keyu, admitted in a taped phone conversation that the CCP encouraged the attacks.

Regarding this recent attack, both Wu and Tang said that they suspect the assailants were again working at the behest of the Chinese communist regime.

Nonetheless, Tang said that although his nose was bleeding heavily and his eyes were still too swollen to see, he will not let these threats change his actions.

Tang has reported the incident to the FBI and asked them to also investigate other crimes the CCP has committed overseas. Wu added that the Chinese transitional government will not allow the CCP to destroy democracy and freedom in the United States.
