A Navy F/A-18E “Super Hornet” fighter jet crashed off the coast of Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Wednesday. The jet went down about 45 miles from Oceana.

Via Twitter, the Navy said it “confirms F-18 down 45 miles off coast of Oceana. Pilot ejected and safely recovered.”

NBC reported that the pilot is in “fine” condition, according to the Navy.

He was recovered off the coast.

The jet crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, said a Navy spokesperson, according to ABC.

The pilot was rescued by a Navy helicopter, the spokesperson said.
