WASHINGTON— Washington D.C., as the capital of the United States, is not only home to Congress and The White House but also to military institutions, think tanks, the diplomatic corps and a myriad other organizations that require a close location to the seat of government.
It is no wonder then that when Shen Yun Performing Arts tours to D.C. it draws out top level members of all those communities.
It was the New York-based company’s third season at the capital’s Kennedy Center when the 2012 season opened on March 21, and at a VIP reception following the performance was B.J. Penn, former US Navy Secretary in the Department of Defense.
“It was fantastic,” said Mr. Penn, who admitted that the athleticism of the Shen Yun performers had been so impressive, he had felt his age.
