French police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse demonstrators in Paris on Nov. 24, as thousands gathered in the capital and staged road blockades across the nation to vent anger against rising fuel taxes and Emmanuel Macron's presidency.
Thousands of police were deployed nationwide to contain the demonstrations, including a tense protest at the foot of the Champs-Elysees where protesters burned barriers and large plywood sheets, wielded placards reading "Death to Taxes" and upturned a large vehicle.
There were no immediate reports of injuries in the clashes, but 18 were detained for various acts including for "throwing projectiles," Paris police told The Associated Press.

Voters in Taiwan overturned the same-sex marriage resolution in a new vote on Saturday.Taiwan’s high court legalized same-sex marriage in May 2017, the first place in Asia to do so.
The Coalition for the Happiness of our Next Generation said the win was a “victory of all people who treasure family values.”
However, the ruling gave legislators a two-year deadline to bring marriage-equality into law.

According to the mall's marketing manager, it was expected to be a record-setting black Friday.

Four White Lion Cubs are Given Their Names in Magdeburg Zoo
Amari, Nyala, Simba and Tajo, four rare white lion cubs born at Germany's Magdeburg zoo in July, were given their names on Saturday, with a ceremony open to all visitors.One of the three males, Simba, could be seen running away from his brothers and sisters, fighting for the "dinner" he had found in the box carrying his name.
According to the Global White Lion Protection Trust, the animals are not albinos but "a genetic rarity" of the Greater Timbavati area in South Africa's Krueger National Park.
