On Friday, acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker said he has not spoken with President Donald Trump or any senior White House officials about the U.S. special counsel’s probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Whitaker said in a House Judiciary Committee hearing on oversight of the Justice Department: “Mr. Chairman, as I’ve said earlier today in my opening remarks, I do not intend today to talk about my private conversations with the President of the United States. But to answer your question I have not talked to the President of the United States about the special counsel’s investigation.”
